Andrew and Danielle Mayoras Featured in Michigan Today

The University of Michigan’s March 16, 2015, edition of Michigan Today includes a feature on our own Danielle Mayoras and Andy Mayoras. Danielle and Andy are both alumni of the University of Michigan and its Law School, where they met. The March article from their alma mater highlights the estate and financial planning work of Barron, Rosenberg, Mayoras & Mayoras as well as the duo’s publications and appearances.

In particular, Danielle and Andy were interviewed about their 2012 book — Trial & Heirs: Famous Fortune Fights! — and their related television and speaking engagements using stories about celebrity estates to educate the public about estate planning. Drafting a last will and testament or creating a living trust may not sound glamorous, but they succeed in making the topic interesting in order to stress the important benefits of planning for the future. As Andy puts it, in a quotation from the Michigan Today article, “Celebrities are just like the rest of us”:

It’s only the dollar figures that differ. We’ve been contacted by families of pop stars, Hollywood legends, and famous musicians. No amount of wealth can insulate someone from the pain and heartbreak that results from an estate battle or bad estate planning.

Danielle and Andy also offer an engaging and informative look at elder law and legacy planning on their website, TrialAndHeirs.com.

The article also offers some helpful observations on the difficulties and complex family dynamics involved in estate planning, as well as on the attorney-client relationship that develops during the estate planning process. As Danielle recounted, “I pursued law because I genuinely wanted to help people and I’ve been blessed to be able to do it through estate planning.”

My clients have trusted me with the most personal details of their finances and family secrets. It is extremely rewarding to ensure their desires and wishes for their heirs are handled properly. The gratitude clients have throughout the process is very satisfying for me personally.
